Tweed Shire Council has recently incorporated new sustainability criteria for suppliers to address when submitting proposals. Our staff have undergone training in how to evaluate sustainability measures, to support a fair approach to rating each supplier’s response.
These changes are designed to simplify the process for suppliers and staff, while embedding sustainability into Council’s purchasing. This reflects our Community Strategic Plan goals of protecting our environment; creating liveable places to live, work and play; supporting our people and economy to thrive; and working together to grow for a sustainable future.
The sustainability criteria are tailored to TSC’s purchasing categories. The aim is to only ask suppliers for relevant information and to avoid unrelated or general sustainability questions. Council wants to make it simpler to do business while being clear on environmental, social, economic and governance outcomes.
You will progressively see these sustainability factors incorporated into RFOs from Council. While we have placed a weighting to these factors in some tender documents, we will be looking to progressively incorporate these into all tender documents.

We want your feedback
To help ensure that we tailor our sustainability schedules while making things simpler, we'd like your feedback.
We know that many businesses are already taking steps towards improving sustainability appropriate to their size, location and experiences. We want to know:
Are sustainability criteria simple to understand?
Do you know how to address sustainability criteria?
Is your business already addressing sustainability in its operations, products and services?
Please take 5-10 minutes to complete our survey and to provide your feedback to Council.
