    At last Thursday's (11 December 2014) Council meeting, it was resolved that Council:

    1. Temporarily closes Mistral Road during the replacement of Anthonys Bridge.

    2. Includes a cycleway on the downstream side of the new Anthonys Bridge at a cost of $150,000 in the 2015/16 budget.

    3. Undertakes pavement rehabilitation on 5 sections of Stokers Road and 1 Section of Bakers Road before the Anthonys Bridge replacement commences and funds the $1,586,000 required to complete these works by adjusting the current roads programs in the December 2014 budget review.

    4. Officers initiate the process of formally naming the bridge in accordance with Council policy.

    The vote was unanimous.

    These resolutions take into account the considerable feedback received from the local community and, where possible, address some of the concerns and aspirations expressed in your submissions.  All submissions were presented to Council in a confidential attachment.

    What happens next:

    Rehabilitation works on Stokers Road and Bakers Road are scheduled to commence in February 2015.

    Following this, construction of the replacement bridge is expected to commence in late May 2015.

    Prior to the commencement of the bridge replacement, Council will notify residents by placing roadside signage along the approaches to the bridge, in both directions and an advertisement in the Tweed Link.  Project updates will also be published here on Your Say Tweed, so visit this page regularly to stay up to date.

    Community feedback about the proposed Anthonys Bridge replacement will be presented in a report to Council at its meeting tomorrow, Thursday 11 December.

    The report recommends that Council:

    1. Temporarily closes Mistral Road during the replacement of Anthonys Bridge.

    2. Includes a cycleway on the downstream side of the new Anthonys Bridge at a cost of $150,000 in the 2015/16 budget.

    3. Undertakes pavement rehabilitation on 5 sections of Stokers Road and 1 section of Bakers Road before the Anthonys Bridge replacement commences and funds the $1,586,000 required to complete these works by adjusting the current roads programs in the December 2014 budget review.

    4. Officers initiate the process of formally naming the bridge in accordance with Council policy.

    If you'd like to chat to someone about the proposed replacement of Anthonys Bridge and what this might mean for you, drop in to a pop-up information booth to be hosted at Dallis Park this Wednesday 29 October. 

    Council officers will be onsite from 2 - 4.30pm to answer questions and listen to any concerns you might have.
