Improvements and changes to the management of water and leachate (nutrient charged liquid pollutant that all landfills create) need to be made on site.
This is a condition and licence requirement that is currently being met and needs to be updated with site improvements.
This project will:
remove the current leachate pond
upgrade existing storm water pathways and pond
build a new leachate pond to better accommodate extreme rainfall events
This will better manage water and leachate with updated site improvements.
Water management
With local extreme rainfalls, it is essential to manage the water on site.
Drainage improvements at organics facility site
New storm water pipe on existing site road
Work has started on smaller improvements. Work will continue throughout the stages of the Master Plan.

Leachate management
All landfills create leachate (nutrient charged liquid pollutant) but this is managed for the health of the environment and to keep ongoing site costs down.
