The community was invited to comment on the proposal to clarify property numbers with the Anchorage development at Tweed Heads. A total of 165 properties have been identified as requiring a change to their address. These property owners have been contacted by Tweed Shire Council.
Why are we doing this?
After receiving a number of recent complaints by residents, Council officers have reviewed the addressing at The Anchorage and would like to make changes to fix the issues.
Through an extensive investigation, which included data collation from Strata and Community Managers and a site visit by our Officers, Council has identified that the addresses held by Council and the NSW Land Registry Service bear no relevance to the unit numbers used by residents.
We found the official addresses are based on Lot numbers rather than the Unit numbers that residents use. This inconsistency occurred at the time of development, when it was not mandatory for developers to confirm street addresses with Council. We understand this issue causes substantial confusion and would like to resolve it.
What changes are being made?
To reduce confusion for residents, delivery and emergency services, Council is proposing that units within The Anchorage should be readdressed according to their Unit number and we are suggesting the addition of the complex name.
For example,
Current official address
17/1 Mariners Drive West
TWEED HEADS 2485
Proposed official address
Discovery Cove
227/1 Mariners Drive West
TWEED HEADS 2485
