The discussion paper also outlined a range of key challenges for agriculture in Tweed Shire.
It posed questions about how to balance environmental, social and economic considerations in the Tweed's agricultural and food production systems, and sought public feedback.
In response to feedback, Council is developing a draft strategy which is scheduled to be adopted in early 2016 and will go on public exhibition for up to three months.
Council discussions with the farming industry and the broader community are ongoing and will continue during the exhibition period.
All community feedback received will be considered to help finalise the strategy.
