The Open Space Strategy 2019-2029 and Implementation Plan was adopted by Council on Thursday 15 August 2019.
The Strategy sets the vision for the future of open space and provides the overarching framework and strategic direction for public open space planning in the Tweed Shire for the next 10 years.
The Implementation Plan is presented as a separate document to the Strategy and will guide the delivery of the Open Space Strategy 2019-2029.
The Strategy is the product of extensive consultation with residents, stakeholders, open space users and visitors. We engaged and listened to the community to determine what needs to be done to protect and enhance Tweed’s open space network.
The draft Strategy was open for public comment from 4 September 2018 to 16 December 2018. We heard from over 1,200 people via in-person community conversations, online engagement or as written or email submissions. We also visited local high schools and worked with a number of community groups to obtain their feedback.
Thank you to everyone for their contributions, involvement and feedback. We share your passion and pride in the Tweed and we are committed to work together to preserve the Tweed lifestyle for future generations.
