Be a Joe Rider and make a difference!

We’re looking for passionate riders to join the Joe Rider Motorcycle Safety Campaign from Monday 28 October to Friday 1 November. Register by Sunday 20 October.

'I Am Joe Rider' logoAs a Joe Rider, you’ll wear the iconic bright yellow 'I am Joe Rider' vest while cruising through the Tweed, helping drivers become more aware of motorcyclists on the road.

This campaign aims to reduce 'Sorry Mate I Didn’t See You' (SMIDSY) crashes by encouraging road users to be more alert and aware of motorcycle riders. Throughout the campaign, motorists will be encouraged to spot ‘Joe Rider’ and enter a daily and grand prize competition!


Why volunteer

  • It’s fun! You get to ride while helping improve road safety.
  • Rest and recharge with $15 Why Leave Town fatigue vouchers for every ride to keep you going strong.
  • Be part of a community of like-minded riders making a real impact in a statewide safety initiative.
  • Plus, you’ll receive a first aid kit as a thank you for your awesome contribution!


What you need

  • Tweed Shire Council's roads campaign icon - A safe and connected local road network - Stay safeA valid motorcycle licence.
  • A registered and comprehensively insured motorcycle.
  • Protective gear (gloves, helmet, jacket/pants, boots).
  • Commit to at least one 30 to 60 minute ride, in an area of your choice


How to join

Register by Sunday 20 October and get ready to hit the road!

You can commit to the full campaign or just ride a few days – whatever works for you. You’ll also attend a quick induction (either in-person or online) to get you all set for your rides.
