Project background

26 June - 3 July 2023. We sought ideas and feedback from the local community, tourism operators, local businesses and visitors to inform an updated version of the Destination Management Plan.

The Tweed Region Destination Management Plan (DMP) is a strategic document developed to build Tweed Shire's visitor economy and tourism marketing opportunities. It provides an overview of Tweed Shire as a destination and proposes a range of opportunities covering marketing and promotion, product development and key priorities to grow Tweed Shire's tourism sustainably.

The Tweed Region’s first Destination Management Plan was formally adopted by the Tweed Shire Councillors in October 2019. Much work has been undertaken to bring this plan to fruition, however events including Covid-19, border closures, and multiple significant flooding events have led to the need for an updated plan.

The tourism landscape has changed significantly since 2019, as such, it is timely to undertake a DMP review and provide a relevant, updated blueprint for the Tweed's tourism sector moving forward. The Tweed Tourism Company (TTC) is contracted by Council to promote Tweed as a tourism destination and will undertake the review of the Tweed Destination Management Plan (DMP).
