Tweed residents are being asked for their feedback on what they would like to see for the future of the Banora Point Community Centre.
Located on the corner of Leisure Drive and Woodland Drive at Banora Point, the facility is currently used by Council to host the Fun Activities for Banora Seniors program (FABS) – a twice-weekly community program offering a range of group and social-based activities for seniors.
The centre is also available for hire for private events, and other activities.
The background
As of December 2023, Council will no longer be facilitating the FABS program - which is funded through the Commonwealth Home Support Program. Council is now looking for alternate measures to manage the Banora Point Community Centre, where the FABS program is run.
FABS is a twice weekly community program that offers a range of group and social based activities for local seniors including; playing cards, mahjong, art classes, making cards and scrapbooking, mosaics, jewellery making, crochet, knitting and needle work, to name a few.
In July 2023, Council engaged consultants Better Cities Group to research ways in which Banora Point Community Centre could operate in the future.
Part of this research includes a survey for residents to have their say.
About the space The building is located next to a public park, exercise equipment and playground. There are 3 meeting rooms for hire with a shared kitchen:
Coolamon room: capacity 100
Lillypilly room: capacity 30
Rosewood room: capacity 30
There's also a community office space for hire (Lomandra office, capacity 3 people).
How to have your say Below is a quick survey for all Tweed residents to let us know what they think the future of the Banora Point Community Centre should look like.
This survey will end 5pm Mon 14 August.
