The draft Ageing Well in the Tweed Strategy 2024 -2029.
This strategy was on exhibition from Wednesday 16 October 2024 - Friday 15 November 2024.

About the Strategy.

The draft Ageing Well in the Tweed Strategy has been developed to provide strategic direction so that we can ensure the Tweed is an age friendly place that meets the needs of the community, a place where people feel valued, supported, and connected as they age.

Community Engagement Summary

During the Tweed Seniors Festival in March 2024, we asked community members, groups, and health and aged care providers for their thoughts on what an age-friendly community looks like in the Tweed. We also ran a community-wide survey that got 178 responses. All this feedback helped us put together the draft document.

Why it matters

  • The Tweed is facing an ageing population driven by increased migration of middle aged and retirees.

  • Older people make a significant contribution to our community as family members, mentors, volunteers, skilled worker and carers.

  • It is important to have the right supports and services available in the community as people age.
