You are invited to review and provide feedback on a draft amended Councillor and Staff Interaction Policy. The Policy provides a framework for councillors when addressing their ability to interact with, and receive advice from, authorised staff.

What is the objective of the Policy?

The objective of the Policy is to facilitate a positive working relationship between Councillors, as the community’s elected representatives, and staff, who are employed to administer the operations of the Council. The Policy provides direction on interactions between councillors and staff to assist both parties in carrying out their day-to-day duties professionally, ethically and respectfully.

What updates are proposed to the Policy?

The Policy has been amended to reflect a Council resolution with:

  • A councillor request limit of 30 requests per month to maintain current service levels without impacting resourcing has been added to section 5.7 and Attachment A, section 2.3 (a).
  • Customer Service Requests (CSRs) placed by Councillors will be treated in the same way as all public CSR's, and the customer is informed on how to lodge a CSR in the future. This change is captured in edits to Attachment A, section 2.3 (b).
