Following a review of our Business Investment Policy, we are proposing changes to the way that business incentives are applied to developer charges for Complying Development Certificates (CDC).

Expanding or establishing businesses and development professionals operating in the Tweed are invited to provide feedback on these proposed changes.

What this policy covers

This policy outlines Council incentives to encourage the development of new businesses, and the expansion of existing businesses. These incentives are related to developer charges and contributions.

What’s changed

We are proposing changes to the way that business incentives are applied to developer charges for Complying Development Certificates.

Under these changes Complying Developments are considered as eligible developments under the Deferred Payment Incentive.

This means that businesses required to pay developer contributions resulting from a Complying Development Certificate approval may be eligible to defer those contributions under this amendment.

Background

Over the last 2 years the NSW Government has made considerable changes to the size and scale of developments in commercial and industrial zones that are eligible as complying development.

Businesses pursing this approval pathway do not require a development application but instead must seek an application for a Complying Development Certificate (CDC).

Council’s amended policy proposes to include businesses that have achieved a CDC as eligible developments under the Deferred Payment Incentive.

Note that Complying Development Certificates can be issued by Private Certifiers as well as Council.
