Project update 18 September 2024
The final concept plan is now available. Construction will commence on Friday 27 September 2024. The playground will be ready in time for the Christmas school holidays, weather permitting.
Thank you for providing feedback on the draft concept plan.
Thank you to the 41 residents who provided feedback via a community survey and those who attended the Family Fun Day in the park held on Saturday 11 May from 10 am to 12 noon.
The feedback you provided has been consolidated into an engagement report, which will serve as valuable input for shaping the final concept plan.
The draft concept plan was on public exhibition from 24 April to 22 May 2024.
The upgrade of Saddle Way Park will revitalise and modernise the existing park by upgrading and enhancing the existing play elements and park facilities.
Construction is scheduled to commence late 2024.
About the park
Council is upgrading Saddle Way Park in Murwillumbah to create a neighborhood park that is more inclusive of everyone in the community, with better play equipment and park facilities. The park upgrade will also improve its resilience to future weather events.
What's proposed?
new play equipment for 2 to 13 years
scooter loop
new basket swing
nature play
accessible drinking fountain
accessible picnic table and shelter
landscaping and tree planting for natural shade
Why it’s happening?
The existing playground was damaged in a severe weather event in 2022 and the play equipment has reached the end of its life.
