Council has an established audit, risk and improvement committee (ARIC) for a number of years. The ARIC Terms of Reference set out the committees objectives, authority, composition and tenure, roles and responsibilities, reporting and administrative arrangements. Changes to the ARIC Terms of Reference are necessary to meet the upcoming changes to the Local Government (General) Regulation 2021 and the Office of Local Government’s Guidelines for risk management and internal audit for local government in NSW.
What is the objective of the audit, risk and improvement committee?
The Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee provides independent assurance to council by monitoring, reviewing and providing advice about how Council is run. This takes place through independent oversight and advice on governance, compliance, risk management and control frameworks, external obligations and overall performance related matters to council.
