2021 marks 20 years of Reconciliation Australia and almost three decades of Australia’s formal reconciliation process. The Reconciliation Week theme for 2021, More than a word. Reconciliation takes action, urges us all towards braver and more impactful action.

Taking action on Reconciliation

Council launched our first Reconciliation Action Plan in 2018 and since then we have taken a range of actions including adopting the award-winning, Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Management Plan; XX staff completed Cultural Intelligence Training with Banaam; we launched the Land Life Culture Exhibition at Tweed Regional Museum and we have formally included an Acknowledgement of Country at the commencement of important internal and external Council events and meetings.

What’s on during Reconciliation Week?

We all have a role to play when it comes to reconciliation, and in playing our part we collectively build relationships and communities that value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories, cultures, and futures.

Join us in Reconciliation Week to learn more about the actions Council have taken and talk about the journey ahead at one of our special Reconciliation Week activities.
