The upgrade of Ray Pascoe Park will revitalise and modernise the existing park by upgrading and enhancing the existing play elements and park facilities.

Ray Pascoe Park is located on Kennedy Drive in Tweed Heads, adjacent to the Tweed River.

About the park

Ray Pascoe Park is used for water-based recreation including boating and fishing, children’s play, picnicking, walking and cycling. We aim to improve the quality of this park and the recreation facilities provided to better meet the needs of the Tweed community.

This project is part of our commitment to protect and improve the quality of the Tweed's public open spaces. This commitment and the actions we plan to take are described in Council's Open Space Strategy (2019–2029).

What's proposed?

  • additional play equipment for children aged 5 years and up
  • inclusive play elements
  • nature play elements
  • vibrant rubber softfall
  • new picnic tables and seating with shelters
  • new public toilet and linking pathways
  • accessible car parking space
  • integration of river themed elements
  • landscaping

The upgrade of Ray Pascoe Park will further boost the liveability of Tweed Heads. It is important that we provide improved facilities for the community to complement the population growth that is expected in the years to come.

Park upgrades at Recreation Ground, Livvi's Place at Goorimahbah - Place of Stories and now Ray Pascoe Park are significant steps in that direction.

What happens next?

  • The park upgrade is scheduled to commence February 2024.

Funding

Council has received a $400,000 grant through the NSW Government’s Regional Housing Fund program to upgrade the park. Council will contribute a further $250,000 to the project.
